Humber Polytechnic real estate program phases explained

RECO's real estate salesperson program, which Humber Polytechnic delivers, runs in three phases: a pre-registration phase of five courses and two simulation sessions, finished within 24 months of starting Course 1; registration with RECO, applied for within one year of finishing pre-registration; and a post-registration phase, finished within two years of becoming registered. On Humber Polytechnic's published fees, the required pre-registration components, including six exams, total $4,140.

ExamPass is not part of Humber Polytechnic. We are an independent study site, not affiliated with or endorsed by Humber Polytechnic, RECO or Meazure Learning, and we use the names only so you know which program this page describes.

What are the three phases of the Humber real estate program?

PhaseWhat it involvesTime limit
Pre-registrationCourses 1 to 5 and Simulation Sessions 1 and 2, with an exam after every component except Course 524 months from the start of Course 1
Registration with RECOApplying to RECO to become a registered salespersonWithin one year of completing pre-registration
Post-registrationA mandatory compliance course on your TRESA responsibilities, taken first, plus two electives chosen from fiveWithin two years of becoming registered

The program is RECO's, and Humber Polytechnic is one of four approved providers, so the courses, exams and time limits are the same wherever you enrol. To start, you need an Ontario or Canadian secondary school diploma, a GED or an acceptable equivalent, and proof of English language proficiency. A provider can add its own requirements, so check Humber Polytechnic's admission details.

TotalAmount
Required components (five courses, two simulations, six exams)$4,140
Optional facilitated reviews$645
Everything, including all three reviews$4,785

Fees can change. Treat these figures as a planning guide and confirm current fees on Humber Polytechnic's site before you budget or enrol.

Are the facilitated reviews worth adding?

They are optional virtual sessions offered after three of the courses:

ReviewLengthFee
Course 2 facilitated review21 hours$320
Course 3 facilitated review9 hours$140
Course 4 facilitated review12 hours$185

It depends on how you learn. Learners who study well alone often skip them and spend the time on practice questions. Learners who want a live instructor often choose the Course 2 review, since Course 2 is the heaviest course at around 150 hours.

How do you book a Humber real estate exam?

Booking happens in two steps across two systems.

  1. Register for the exam with Humber Polytechnic. This tells Meazure Learning you are eligible to write that exam.
  2. Schedule and pay in Meazure. You reach the Meazure platform through the Humber learner portal, pick a date and pay the $120 fee. Meazure then emails your instructions.

You can choose to write online with remote proctoring or in person at a test centre. Online exams can be booked any time of day, as little as 24 hours ahead. In-person exams need at least 48 hours' notice. If you need an accommodation, ask Humber Polytechnic before you schedule, and allow at least 30 days for your first accommodated exam.

To reschedule, give at least 72 hours' notice for an in-person exam ($25 fee) or more than 24 hours for an online one (free); later, you lose the fee. For exam day, see our guides on the exam format and studying for a Meazure exam.

Under Humber Polytechnic's policy, results are posted to the learner portal, and Humber does not release them by phone or email. If a result does not go your way, read what to do after a failed exam and our guide to results and retakes.

How do simulation seats work at Humber?

Simulation sections open on a continuous basis rather than on a fixed calendar, so when you are ready for Simulation Session 1 or 2 you may have to wait for a seat in a section. Attendance is mandatory: 35 hours over five days for Simulation 1, and 24 hours over four days for Simulation 2. You can attend in person or virtually.

If you are placed in a section and need to move to a different one, Humber Polytechnic charges a $50 administration fee. Check your work and family commitments before you choose a section, not after. For how to get ready for the sessions themselves, see Simulation 1 vs Simulation 2: how to prepare.

How does the 24-month limit work in practice?

The clock starts when Course 1 begins, and all of pre-registration, every course, simulation and exam, must be finished within it, so any rewrite has to fit inside the same window. An invented example:

Priya Nandakumar works full time in Mississauga. She writes Exam 1 in month 3, spends months 4 to 9 on Course 2, and finishes Course 3 and Exam 3 in month 12. She waits about a month for a Simulation 1 seat and writes Simulation Exam 1 in month 14. Course 4 and Exam 4 take her to month 18, Simulation 2 to month 20, and Course 5 to month 21.

She finishes with three months to spare. A second attempt at Exam 2 would have cost $120 and a few weeks, and still fit. The lesson is to build a buffer early, because the long courses and the simulation seat waits fall in the middle of the program.

What happens after pre-registration?

Once pre-registration is complete, you have one year to apply to RECO for registration as a salesperson. Plan your application within that window.

Once registered, you start post-registration: the mandatory TRESA compliance course first, then two electives from five. You have two years to finish, and completion is required to renew at the end of your first two-year registration cycle. Confirm the current post-registration courses and fees with your provider.

Is Humber's program different from other colleges?

No. RECO has approved four providers, and all of them deliver the same RECO program with the same centrally administered Meazure exams. Fees, formats and scheduling may differ, but the content and exams do not. See our pages for Algonquin College, Career College Group and Fleming College students.
